Recession Dates in UK vs US

The UK is in a technical recession as GDP has contracted in that country for two straight quarters.  Below is a list of dates of recession in the UK since WW2.  For comparison there is also a list of dates in the US over the same time period.

Recession in each country hasn't always overlapped.  The US went into recession in 1953-54, 1969-70 and 2001 without the UK.  The UK was in recession in 1956 while the US was not, but the US was in recession one year later in 1957.
